Given the current lockdowns and the pain many businesses are experiencing it's time the review the ABC's costs and start trimming staff and services back to essential services. This could be extended to a complete review of the public service apart from emergency services and defence.
I would say that the TV stations, which aren't essential, could be shutdown immediately and people can start watching news services on commercial stations. The benefit would be a far more balanced view of the world plus and tax savings with staff going on job keeper payments. City and regional radio stations would be declared an essential service but staff would have their contracts reviewed.
