The UN has worked for those that want it to work.Europe has been at peace for 50 odd years.However in other parts,they are not ready for the UN;not enough blood spilt yet.If you are expecting some short timetable for a peacable world then you will be disappointed.The US expanding on the American continent,the EU expansion,Asian nations getting closer and Africa past the major bloodletting[hope]will bring the peace to many more regions.We all know that the UN needs updating as did the League of Nations;that can only be done in a period of massive disruption......we are about to get that opportunity.
