IMHO, split is unlikely to serve any purpose and I know that my opinion is inconsequential. All depends on what management thinks in terms of psychological impact of lower price on retail investors, share price movement that could come with a split, it's impact on those who do short-term trades, current volume of trading & perceived liquidity, impact that split can potentially have on voting. May be when stock hits $500, split it into a pricey stock of say $450 and a cheaper version of $50 with limited voting rights (like BRK-B)
