So, this may be a bit presumptuous, but I am assuming that the split idea has been argued away; and we are now talking about where the sp could go.
Predicting a future sp, while interesting, does not actually help us much. IMO, what is a more interesting discussion is what are the drivers for the share price to keep rising. So here goes
1. Demand for the product they produce is growing, which means that the size of the available market is growing. If CSL maintain market share, revenue should increase in line with market size growth.
2. Orphan drug status on some of their products means that they have very little competition in some products. So again, a captive market that will drive revenue
3. CSL continued to build blood collection centres, even when demand forecast indicated an oversupply of plasma. This has meant that they have the product to meet the demand and they are winning market share in a growing market. This translates to increased revenue.
4. CSL is the most efficient producer of Plasma and get's a higher yield out of every litre of plasma, when compared to the competitors. Being the lowest cost producer is always a good position to be in.
5. R & D. Where to start? Spending 10% of sales on R & D means that CSL is thinking 17 years into the future (rather than most companies thinking ahead 17 days). If any one of the R & D projects comes to market, CSL will benefit yet again in increased revenue.
6. Management. With Brian as Chairman and Paul as CEO, what more could we ask for?
