I could've easily predicted the old "distractions" argument. That is a distraction in itself. But we continually see that old one trotted out by the desperate old fuddy duddy monarchists, who seem to live in fear at the thought of throwing Lizzie and Charlie out with the dishwater. I say, give 'em a good send off, and then let 'em be. The Poms deserve them, not us.....lol.
Nothing to do with distractions, or even growing up. Just common sense, and much better symbolism for the nation.
If it IS broke, fix it. And it is badly broken. Just that you can't see it unfortunately. Once we become a republic, you'll see what I mean. Will be wonderful.
It's almost too silly to be talking about if you ask me. Simply can't understand why any proud Australian would want the Union Jack on our flag, or an English head of state. Defies logic, spirit, pride if you ask me.
About the only reason the monarchists can seem to come up with is, "Why change."....lol. Would've thought the reasons were quite obvious. Crikey.
