Exactly the same setup you would have all over the country if you are to continue on with a national network - of course, most of the country cables wouldn't be under water though.
I really don't think you can stand here and argue to us 'for' renewables - but, say 'oh, Tassie is crap' -

Because it's the most renewable energy state in Australia --------- Hydro and wind with a coal back up from the mainland.
You can argue that - oh, well - it's because of the industry demands - and, of course - look at them - they sold their hydro power off -

but, what are you expecting all the other states to do?????? - generate their little power needs - but, have no industry or not sell off their power to others in sharing?

I am not against renewable power at all --------------- I am against weather dependent power generation -

This is what I would like to have seen and see ------------------ STOP ALL SPENDING on silly windmills, solar farms and the like - and the millions to billions spent on that sort of infrastructure and research into weather dependent systems -
keep chugging with what we have, and go and express research - put BILLIONS -just for a few years - maybe 5 years, maybe 10 years concentrated spending - into research for NON weather dependent power generation.
If we are truly going to change the way we generate power - and give ourselves clean, green cheap power for the future that is 'reliable' -
AND will serve us through pretty much anything nature can throw at us - INCLUDING an ice age -
then, go for it ------------------- there won't be any argument from me.
But, for bloody windmills, and solar farms -------------------- just forget it.
Batteries - yep, I can live with the research into that - because - although we may or may not need them - at least if we have the technology - and, we can feed them the power - they will perform.
We can make power to put into a battery.
We cannot make the wind blow and we cannot make the sunshine when it decides to be cloudy or dusty.
