re: time to run laf ready to go RESOURCE WRAP - egoli's mining, resource & energy round up

Lafayette Mining Limited (LAF) today advised that regulatory approval would be granted for the recommissioning of the polymetallic processing facility at its Rapu Rapu project in the Philippines. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), after verifying Lafayette’s remedial environmental measures, yesterday confirmed that a temporary lifting order would be issued to enable the project to test its systems and thereby demonstrate its compliance with “best practice” environmental standards. The DENR has indicated that, following the completion of a fully compliant operating period that is sufficient to demonstrate the integrity of the project’s environmental management systems, a final lifting order would be issued to resume full operations. The TLO has been granted on conditions that include third party expert monitoring and close supervision by DENR staff. Lafayette said it was confident that it would meet all conditions. Lafayette’s managing director David Baker said the company has worked with its Filipino management and operations team to address the environmental, operational and financial issues confronting the project. “We look forward to an immediate resumption of operations in a strong commodity market,” Mr Baker said in a press statement.
