    El Niño usually brings dry weather, so why have we just had weeks of heavy rain?

    Last month, record daily rainfall totals fell across several parts of the New South Wales south coast and monthly totals were also above average for most of the NT and Queensland.

    The downpours have defied the odds of a dry weather for spring, stacked heavily by the major climate driver El Niño, as well as other dry influences.

    So does this mean the Bureau of Meteorology's forecasts for El Niño were wrong?

    Aye, predicting weather events is a tough gig. I certainly hope people haven't lost faith in man's (sorry girls) ability to predict the weather in 20, 30, or 40 years hence.
