timing of a counter bid

hi all
have been following the posts on the other thread
seems to be some view/hope that one of the larger US oil companies or even AUT might see the merit in bidding
Given the indicative timeline set out in the merger announcement I would be interested to hear your views as to whether there would be a date that would be the last date that such an offer,if there was to be one,could be tabled
