Re. Reiner's post about prices in Germany pre WW2, I read once about a waiter at a Berlin hotel who was once tipped a one oz gold coin in the good days. Apparently he ended up buying the hotel with that coin due to the hyperinflation.
Could it happen again? Who knows, but I'd rather have gold than paper.
