Global tin market facing 2018 deficit – BMI
The global tin market is expected to move into a deficit from 2018 onwards, pushing prices higher, according to BMI Research, a division of Business Monitor International.
"Already sparse global inventories" will be further depressed by heightened demand and slowing production growth, analysts at London-based BMI Research said in a report on Thursday January 26. The market will shift from a surplus of 400 tonnes in 2017 to a deficit of 3,500 tonnes in 2018; by 2021, the deficit is expected to deepen to 12,600 tonnes.
