Tin stocks at London Metal Exchange-approved warehouses have fallen to just 2,665 tonnes, the lowest recorded since 1980.
Kash Kamal of Sucden Financial, noted: "There was a brief moment in '89 when stocks hit 2,740 [tonnes], but the last time they were at current levels was back in 1980." The decline has been steady over the last few months but the current stock is in stark contrast to the 39,000 tonnes recorded in August 2002.
