    TIN PRICE CLOSES FIRMER AT US$14,090 PER TONNE

    from BERNAMA The Malaysian National News Agency KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) closed firmer today with tin price rising by US$80 to US$14,090 per tonne, spurred by continued strong interest from Japanese buyers and steadier price on the London Metal Exchange (LME) overnight, dealers said

    Tin price on the LME rose by US$50 to close at US$14,100 per tonne

    On the local front, at the opening level of US$14,010 per tonne, bids amounted to 80 tonnes compared with offers at only 46 tonnes

    Overall turnover for the day stood at 47 tonnes, down from yesterday's closing of 100 tonnes with demand coming from Japanese and local traders

    The premium, based on a formula that includes freight, insurance and other financial costs, was higher at US$255 per tonne as against US$225 per tonne yesterday. Copyright 2007 Bernama
