They used to refine tin in Cornwall for three thousand years. Very rich ore there, then. I think the smelters were run by a few people and were called "Jews houses" for a long time, because they were run by men from Palestine, who includes Joseph of Arimathea, Jesus' uncle. The remaining shells of these old smelters had a small footprint but were three stories high, with a tall chimney at the back. The refined tin was poured into moulds called "dogs" with four arms suitable for carrying be a few men along paths to the water. It cant be all that difficult. They must have used charcoal, bellows and a limestone flux?
