Tiresias has had a quiet week contemplating the sky. Unfortunately, the lights around him obscure much and it is hard to read. It seems the world is in a pause, a hiatus, a holding pattern. Optiscan too seems to be is in pause. As they used to say in the old Tarzan movies when the jungle noise stops.

"It's quiet. Too quiet".

There have been changes which Tiresias has commentated over the last year and they have completely transformed the company. The company is finally funded properly. The company has received strong financial backing. The technology is second to none. Optiscan Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy (CLE) is revolutionary, disruptive, and transformative. It will transform histopathology of cancer diagnosis and treatment. It has applications in the clinic and in the operating room. The immediate disruption will be the replacement of frozen section biopsy in the operating room in all operating theatres in the world. But that's just small beer. In the clinic it will become as ubiquitous as ultrasound, CT, and MRI. Tiresias sees the day when every pathology test centre; every radiology clinic; every dermatology/skin-clinics, every GI endoscopy suite, every urology cystoscopy suite, every bronchoscopy, every ENT, and many many more, have an Optiscan scanner as part of the first in vivo real-time providing instant real-time digital histopathology. Teresa's sees this enabled with sophisticated machine learning/AI distributed via the Internet across the world available to everyone in the world. Tiresias has said all this before and Teresa's will continue to say it. He knows his friends might thinking.

My Friends, Tiresias has been in medicine for a very long time. The medical world is a slow world. Progressing in the medical world is like trying to walk through treacle. If you are not of the medical world and you do understand this world, you end up stuck in treacle. Tiresias knows that in the past, managements of Optiscan have not only been stuck in the treacle but have ossified in place by this treacle they knew nothing of and couldn’t even see it. Tiresias expected that the changes in Optiscan should have changed all that. Tiresias trusts that this quietness is truly the pause that refreshes. Tiresias is confident of ultimate victory and the ultimate prize. Though Tiresias is patient, even he is starting to understand his friends’ probable slight impatience. But things can only go as fast as they can go or as fast as the driver can drive. If ones’ driver is Steve Jobs, things can go very fast. If ones’ driver is John Sculley, one doesn’t go so fast, one actually goes backwards, no matter how good the technology might be. It depends whether one’s driver sees clearly into the future and beyond or one's driver is looking in the rear-view mirror and driving by following a manual. Like his friends, Tiresias would like to see some green shoots of real progress. Tiresias is waiting, looking for the alignment of the stars but the artificial lights around him obscure and distract. So, he waits. So, we wait.
