All very well to have the best technology but there also has to be an understanding of the value of good marketing and promotion for a product to survive. Think Sony in the '80s with the superior Beta video recorder vs the JVC's VHS competition. In the end, it came down to the fact that Sony initially kept its Beta technology mostly to itself, while JVC, the Japanese inventor of VHS, shared its secret with a raft of other firms and established market leadership with an arguably inferior product.
