My friends,
As you my friends know, Tiresias loves nothing better than to discuss the coming revolution of cancer diagnosis and cancer treatment that Optiscan’s confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE), digital biopsy, and real time histopathology brings. Tiresias has often opined on this, sometimes in perhaps excessive detail. He has also mused on Optiscan’s history and previous managements and has discussed Optiscan’s share price action, valuation, and potential market capitalisation. Tiresias understands that he can be sometimes somewhat loquacious with his overlong epistles, and perhaps too oblique for some of his slightly less patient friends. He hopes that his friends understand that that is in his nature and in the nature of augury. He therefore begs his friends’ indulgence.
Today, after that overlong introduction, Tiresias would just like touch on one subject and for change try and keep it brief. Tiresias perceives that Optiscan is in a phase of transition. With the recent price pullback Tiresias understands that there is an impatience with the price and impatience for news of progress. Tiresias also understands that transitions take a little time. Some holders want to hear from the new chairman. Of course, he would have done his due diligence before accepting the chair, and that reassures Tiresias. Tiresias is also reassured that he is taking his time, to familiarize himself with all aspects of the company, assessing the technology, the personnel, and the strategies and tactics for the next phase. Tiresias is patient and advises patience. The shareholders who will reap the prize of Optiscan are those with the patient with slightly longer time horizon. Tiresias understands just how patient manyof his friends have been, as he himself has been.[WK1] In Tiresias’s view is that we are in the most exciting area in the stock market - health. Health care is consuming an ever- increasing fraction of all countries’ economies and he can assure you that this is going to grow and grow exponentially. You see my friends, the old killers are disappearing, but there is left one big one, the unmentionable one, every person’s nightmare - Cancer. Contrary to the current panic, cancer, and not anything else, is the big health issue of this century. We the shareholders of Optiscan, have a ticket for this future. If it takes a little time, Tiresias can wait. He sees a time when every cancer operation using Optiscan digital real time endomicroscope; when every oral clinic and every oral cancer operating theatre has an Optiscan instrument; when every breast surgery theatre has a digital endomicroscope; when Optiscan technology has replaced frozen section in all cancer surgery and biopsies; when Mohs surgery for skin cancers is obsolete. Tiresias sees this and a lot more besides. Tiresias is waiting, and he is understanding of impatience. He too would like all this tomorrow, but revolutions take time. Overnight success is usually preceded by a lifetime of struggle.
