For the first time Grant is proposing that the LNG facilitators should electrify (using solar power and batteries) to compress the gas prior to export. This approach was not mentioned at the Senate enquiry into Middle Arm; and that was only a month or two back.

I heard a rather amazing statistic a few weeks back. (I have tried to find the source, but have been unsuccessful). It was that 80% of Australia's carbon dioxide production from LNG came from compressing the gas into a liquid to facilitate export. Only 20% of our carbon dioxide production from LNG comes from the domestic burning of LNG.

It feels to me that Grant has seen the same report. But where I thought 'That's interesting', Grant has seen the opportunity to reduce carbon dioxide production at Middle Arm as well as promote the use of VRFB.
