What is the price of people dying in the first 6 months, putting arise of financial meltdown? Is it worth the price of the antivirals, especially Relenza (for Tamiflu resistance strains)? Surely the insurance by having antivirals is a small price to pay.

The ongoing quote of antivirals reducing symptoms by 1 or 2 days if taken within the first 48 hours is false reporting. It should be stating along the lines of reducing symptoms by an infinite numbers of days. This is because if you are dead, you are dead, you won't get resurrected after 1 or 2 days.

It takes 6 months for gear up to mass production of vaccines, what if the pandemic strain mutates into a less deadly strain after 6 months? The 1918 pandemic lasted for 18 months and evolved into a weak strain.

There are more than 3+ times the size of the human population now compare to 1918 and human movement is much more active now than 1918 as we now have air travel. So the mutation rate can be much faster than the 18 months cycle from the 1918 pandemic.

If you follow this through, you got to go with antivirals. DMA maybe Relenza should be the one for 80% of the stockpile. Lets dream a little bit.
