Talga were approved for and commenced trial mining of 2,000 tpa in 2015. After successful rehabilitation of the area Talga have now been approved for another trial mining permit for 25,000 tpa which will feed the EVA plant for customer qualification ahead of offtakes.
The full scale mining permits for stage 1 (100,000tpa) were submitted last year and are expected Q1 next calendar year. Given the current political landscape in Sweden and the EU, as well as Talga's focus on ESG, they are confident of them being granted. According to Talga they have also been engaging with the environmental court and everything is on track. Submission of the Stage 2 permits will then follow a succesful outcome on stage 1.
