We all have our models and ideas about what happened.. but that's it, a model. Neither me nor you nor anyone can know the truth behind the movements for sure. So whatever fits the own model gets presented as "the explanation". Of course larger players went in which moved the price. From my perspective, these larger players went in because they expected an announcement. Might be because they know more then us or maybe because they have shorter time horizons and don't want to wait on a stock. I can't tell. To me, the decline looks like some of these players leaving again because the explanation did not get fulfilled. Simple as that. Am I right about it? Who knows??
