Their aim is to make money, plain and simple, just like the rest of us. Any conspiracy bs is just that, nothing UBS or CS do can manipulate the price over any real period of time or create any significant price moves as other institutions would thwarte their game ... I'd suggest you read Reminiscences of a Stock Operator for a start and learn something about the market
Written 100 years ago and still just as valid today, probably more so with so many large institutions and thousands of fund managers around looking for places to park money
