As a reminder, we expect the Norrbotten county administrative board to be fairly positive and they have already suggested Talga can further apply for a natura 2000 permit, which Talga does not currently require. And even if the Norrbotten CAB were to rule against Talga, the Swedish government and the Swedish mining inspectorate can overrule them, if need be.

Hmmmm, yeah this article.. the language is a little ambiguous to me and I wonder if there is a bit of context / meaning that is not quite coming through in translation here. The town this bloke is from is 450 kms away in another country. The river doesn't seem to flow through Rovaneimi either, although maybe one of it's distributaries does go through this blokes municipality perhaps. It feels a little bit like the gist of it may be.. 'if this project were to contaminate the river that would be bad for further mining' which wouldn't really be an alarming statement at all, and as my compatriot in Kansas rightly points out it doesn't really fit with this from the Swedish authority..
