I'm thinking there's a decent chance that the shorts are the buyers. After 2.5 days of ultra-low trading volume and the price sticking at $1.27, we may finally be reaching the "oh shit" moment where shorts realize shares are disappearing faster than they're being replaced. If they start thinking they're screwed, it's better for them to close out sooner rather than wait for the market to squeeze them.
