Rather than using gas deposition we use chemo-electric process as it is cheaper. I hope there is a patent on the way.
The Talnode Si process is a cost trade off. While 100% Si may be better in theory or in the lab, "20% to 30% Si with graphite gives the best bang for your buck."
Battery companies share this pragmatic approach.
More than one battery company is qualification testing it and it will be available "real soon."
