I was wondering what happened to the review of the Natura 2000 permit process. The findings were due by no later than the 28th of Feb but I hadn't seen anything released.

This is a good result. While the bill doesn't come into effect until July 2024 and won't help Talga with the current permit, it should hopefully help Talga for future Vittangi expansion plans and plans for their other deposits. As I understand it, an exploitation concession can't be granted without a Natura 2000 permit, if one is required. The exploitation concession provides an exclusive right to the company to exploit the deposit for a period of 25 years, so is a de-risking for the company. Talga haven't been able to obtain the exploitation concession from the Mining Inspectorate as the Natura 2000 permit needs to be decided by the Land and Environment Court first. With the new bill Talga won't need a Natura 2000 permit to be granted before the processing concession.

It doesn't look like it will help to speed up the permitting process as the delays seem to be related to the environmental permit process.
