Regardless of how any appeal is processed, I would have thought that it would be totally unacceptable for the courts not to inform everyone that an appeal has been lodged. Otherwise, you'd have some people knowing this fact, and others not, and there would be always the chance of information leaking out as "insider" information. So everyone needs to be told very soon, probably in the next 24 hours, whether or not an appeal has been submitted.
