The Industry Committee in the European Parliament has voted on the Net Zero Industry Act allowing projects in Natura 2000 areas. Permiting process will be 9 to 12 months for regular projects and 6 to 9 months for strategical projects. There is also the idea of creating Net Zero Industry Valleys. These are industry clusters where permiting process can further be accelerated. These Net Zero Industry Valleys can also be deployed on Natura 2000 areas without any environment impact assessement risks.

European Parliament will vote on the NZIA by end of November. It is supported by a large majority of the parties. After that the NZIA will be negotiated with the council of ministers before turning into law.
