The response to Isak From's letter about the detailed plan has come from Andreas Carlson, one of the two Ministers of Rural Affairs.

Isak From has asked the Minister of Energy and Industry whether she and the government intend to take any initiatives in response to Talga's letter to the government.

The work within the government is distributed in such a way that it is I who will answer the question.

Talga AB has submitted a letter requesting the government, with the support of Chapter 11, Section 15 of the Planning and Building Act (2010:900), to instruct the Kiruna municipality to adopt a new detailed development plan through a so-called planning order to enable the extraction of graphite, which is a strategic raw material used for the production of anodes for lithium-ion batteries.

The government shares Talga AB's and Isak From's view that the establishment of new mines – especially those that can contribute to the green transition and strengthen Sweden's competitiveness – is an important issue for both Sweden's economy and the environment.

Talga AB's letter regarding the planning order is currently being processed within the Government Offices.
