"Acceleration Office Strengthened

The government is now strengthening the Acceleration Office, which works to facilitate industrial transformation and larger corporate investments. Jonas Lundström has been appointed as the new industrial coordinator and will begin his role on 1 October 2024. Additionally, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) has been tasked with identifying and removing obstacles to industrial competitiveness and green transition.

Jonas Lundström will lead the Acceleration Office together with Kristina Alvendal, who was appointed industrial coordinator in June 2024. Lundström has had a long career in both the private and public sectors, primarily in northern Sweden. His most recent position was as the head of business and community development at Region Västerbotten.

– "With two industrial coordinators in place, the pace of the Acceleration Office's work will increase. This is good news for those who want to see more corporate investments that make Sweden greener and wealthier," says Minister for Energy and Business, Ebba Busch.

Through the task assigned to Tillväxtverket, the government strengthens the agency's ability to implement and reinforce measures for industrial competitiveness and green transition.

– "We are now giving Tillväxtverket increased opportunities to collaborate with the Acceleration Office. Tillväxtverket’s expertise in industrial transformation and simplification will help us further accelerate the green transition," says Minister for Energy and Business, Ebba Busch.

Tillväxtverket may use up to 10 million SEK for this assignment in 2024. An additional 10 million SEK per year is planned to be allocated for 2025 and 2026.

The government’s goal is for the investment climate for both Swedish and foreign companies across Sweden to be attractive and competitive. Close cooperation between authorities, more efficient permit processes, and better access to international growth capital contribute to creating favorable conditions for companies to grow in Sweden. Ultimately, this also contributes to the EU’s goals for green and digital transition."
