i think its a great pivot. ev is still so driven by consumers and pricing is critical so unless forced no one really cares where it comes from as long as it works and its cheap.
defence is a whole different story where the focus is on supply chain protection first and foremost and cost while important is outweighed by politcal tensions such as geopolitics and clean economy.
if they can get a defence contract for the eu they should take that and run with it
additionally, the pivot isnt the same, theyre not changing products just the end user and the use case. all progress to date still applies
