The molten metal method of cracking methane is quite energy intensive as it requires fairly high temperatures. The Australian process by contrast uses a fluid bed reactor at much lower temperature and a cheap as chips iron ore catalyst. in addition, if bio methane is used the process is actually carbon negative, bypassing the fugitive emissions and the CO2 accompanied with natural gas extraction.
