The dynamic is definitely shifting and if it's glaringly obvious to all the analysts then it must be obvious to the battery manufacturers and OEMs too.
The risk of not doing something and investing in miners such as Talga must be far greater than not investing at all. It is a battery arms race after all. If VW can invest hundreds of millions in Quantamscape who don't even have a product and will be many years from any meaningful volume (assuming they can even get their cells to work after stacking), then they should be investing in projects who have working products and can supply in volume too.
VW, Stellantis, Volvo, Nissan, BMW have all placed their orders and made investments in the cell manufacturers.
They need to backup their words and invest in materials suppliers too.
I suspect they will and the next 6-12 months will be very interesting for Talga and we will finally see it all start to come to fruition and the curtains will be lifted.
