The point isn't to undercut each other. It's to make batteries cheaper that's the goal. And furthermore, how can you do the same as ICE vehicles if the batteries don't last as long. The price of a battery costs as much as a new ICE vehicle.
Mini-EV? The market is so niche not everyone wants it. Those small EV's battery will not be used for ESS period. Those Mini-EVs use LiPo batteries "Charge/discharge at 0.5C/0.5C, 80% residual capacity after 500 cycles."
Given that it's a low range EV it means it goes through more cycles. 100 x 500 = 50,000 miles, that's the average capability of Mini-EVs. 50,000 miles is basically 3-6 years or even less worth of driving. In a ESS solution it isn't even worth installing, the removal of the battery from the EV and installing would result in more cost than the battery is even worth because it'll need to be replaced after a few years.
Also, LiPo isn't safe at all overtime they generate gas and expand
