I suppose we could look at it this way.......

Now that the County Board has vetoed the extension of an iron ore (a non critical mineral) permit well up in the pristine mountain areas due to water pollution issues I suppose they can now look "fair and balanced" by then supporting a permit to mine a critical climate change mineral for just 6 months of the year in a less environmentally fragile area.

The politics of denying one but allowing another is quite compelling and the image of being completely anti development/anti jobs is one you would think they would want to avoid if they wanted to keep their elected positions.

Sometimes you need to allow them to claim a victory in order to win your own battle
