It would be interesting to know if any Sami people were at the protest, or have they indeed been won over with some form of reimbursement/the seasonal mining that won't interfere with their reindeer activities. From skimming through some of these protestors twitter feeds, they indeed seem to be extremely radical in their viewpoints on what climate change means, with unrealistic ideas such as pedaling around in a Flintstone mobile. The one protestor's comments show little knowledge other than "mining bad".

Although the protest was off putting, I find it encouraging that it was fairly small in number and I remind myself that Talga have these points in their favor:

    1. European Battery Alliance - Paraphrased from MT Hidden Gem's webinar, Talga already members and on committee of "some of those things" with some staff helping write the legislation.

    2. State owned LKAB MOU with interest in JV (With LKAB announcing $50 b USD to investing in start up green mineral manufacturing up until 2050)

    3. Morgan Stanley advisor

    4. World's greenest graphite anode

    5. Prime minister and the majority of parties changing their tune on mining "In the job policy guidelines, it is made clear that the party leadership wants new mines to be opened "to secure access to necessary and innovation-critical metals and minerals" and that permit processes "should be streamlined for both existing and new operations". "Sweden needs more mines to cope with climate change" - Stefan Lofven

    6. Booming sector with a massive supply shortage.

Having looked at the drone footage, the nearby lake is closer than I thought it would be, however the reminder from the great posts above about the Golder report has reassured me. I believe the wave is set in motion and it's too big and powerful to be stopped by a small number of dissenting voices.
