No. It's not. Synthetic graphite is produced from petroleum coke. The petroleum coke market is already relatively tight and its only going to get tighter as the oil market shrinks later in the decade (petroleum coke being a byproduct of oil). Incidentally, this is why Novonix partnership with Phillips 66 was such a big deal - they secured their supply of petroleum coke.

Also, Syntethic requires more energy and has a higher carbon footprint than natural. So, I'd hardly say it's easier or better to produce.

I'm sure they will be using synthetic graphite, and they'll be using natural too - same as Tesla, CATL, and every other battery producer.
