The prime reasons I would still say for using aluminium windings in traction motors are;
similar conductivity for half the mass,this means a lot lighter motor.
probably 60% cost savings , by not using copper.
By coating in graphene ,all the other reasons aluminium windings haven’t been used in the past are solved.
