They’re probably in the best position of any company to do it from a resource perspective.
In an ideal graphite resource 2 main things are needed- you need a high graphite grade , and a high flake (ie crystalline) component.
As we know the grade in the high grade resource deposit will be close to 30% TGC, and the flake component of that is over 90%. Both in the highest category.
Flake size as far as I know is not a critical factor- though it is if you want to shape and coat it for AAM.
The higher the grade and the crystalline component are , the higher the electrical conductivity.
With higher electrical conductivity you get much higher liberation of graphene (shedding layers
Iike an onion in the mechano/Chem exfoliation process ).
And it’s not just graphene, but dominated by very few layer graphene -the super valuable stuff.
With lower grade/crystalline you get lower graphene recoveries, and the graphene you get is dominanted by more common multi or many layer graphene. So processing much more material for a less valuable product.
Of course other ways to make different types of graphene but they are much more expensive in energy and cost.
