Anyone care to speculate on the impact of upcoming ASX300 rebalance in March?
Give Talga is now sitting near the bottom of the all ords (ie ~490th of 500) removal from the ASX300 seems like a certainty.
A few heavily shorted stocks that have had huge falls in the last year seem to be getting a bounce from this in last few days (CXO, SYA, SYR, CHN and a few others) as index fund lenders presumably recalling the borrowed shares. All with a higher % of shorts than Talga though.
Talga might get a short term bounce if some borrowed shares are recalled, followed by impact of index funds selling after that.
If shorts drop in the next 2 weeks this will likely be the explanation (unless the court wakes up of course)
