There is another factor in the mind of the political class of Norway, Sweden and Finland that augers well for Talga's future. The reason that Sweden and Finland recently scrambled to join the EU is the territorial ambitions of our Russian friend Vlad and the panic gather some friends and ratchet up protection.

Finland's long border with Russia needs no reminder but Sweden has no border with Russia. Sweden's reason for panic is a little more subtle.

Think maritime trade routes linking the Pacific and Atlantic oceans across the Arctic. From the Pacific you have the North East route over Russia Finland and Norway or the North West passage over Alaska and Canada.

With a dose of global warming, one or both of of these will likely become active year round.

China and Russia would favour the N East while Japan and USA would favour the N West

With the N East passage, 80% of the route is through Russian territorial waters, but the last 20% is Finland and Norway.

Remember the speed with which Putin sent troops to his Finish border soon after the start of his invasion of Ukraine. Pre-planning seems to have been very much in place.

A quick victory in Ukraine (as was planned) might have been followed up with a much quicker victory of northern Scandinavia. Putin would have favoured his chances of quickly scalping all the territory above the Arctic Circle. Unless of course the Sami swung into action to fight him off.

All this is just a guess, but Sweden of late, has often mentioned the need to prioritise any developments (read mining) in their north.
