The big news last week was Blinken's China visit, and full scale trade war in effect, I believe. The US can't fight another actual war at this time, so a trade war will have to do. As to parts coming in through a 2nd party (South Korea), well probably not if the US are serious. Likewise for Europe, I don't see any Chinese EVs coming in to Europe in future.
Blinken said the Chinese produce more than 100% of world demand for EVs, so that is probably true and explains current market conditions.
