Does anyone seriously think that Telstra WILL NOT make money out of the new "Fibre to the Node" Network ???
Based on how "Bigpond" works it will go something like this ...
A base plan will be something like 20Mbs and 600MB download at half price for the first six months of a 24 month plan, lets say $39.95 per month ... but they will charge you say 15c a MB once you pass your download limit
After the first month and your first $400 bill, they will then waive the excess usage charges provided you take up the 20Mbs and 20GB download plan ... and it will still be half price ... so you will only be paying $79.95 a month for the next 5 months ...
... then you will be paying $159.90 a month for the next 18 months ... and you will be stuck with their "free" modem which won't work on anyone else's network and some huge cost to change to another network etc. etc. etc. ...
SO don't believe Telstra won't make money out of the NBN because they will ... and us taxpayers will be paying for it
Conclusion: BUY :)
nb: I haven't even mentioned how much we get ripped off in Australia for mobile phone usage :)
