Medibank Private was owned by the Government
Qantas was owned by the Government
Telecom New Zealand (Spark) was owned by the Government
Deutsche Telekom was owned by the Government

How's this theory. The Australian Government (mainly LNP) meddles with policy so much to help out its mates (Murdoch, Costello at Nine etc.) that decent management (Trujillo etc.) can't be bothered and go elsewhere so Telstra end up with time servers. They just did the same thing at Australia Post, Holgate was kicking goals but they didn't want dynamic leadership. Better to replace her with a time server, easier if it falls apart so they can privatise later.
You only have to look at the $40m to Fox for "women's sport" and this latest Google tax to give money to Murdoch and Nine to see what a joke policy is in this country.
