SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--Australia's Telstra Corp. (TLS) has locked in major suppliers to build a A$4 billion high-speed broadband network as it seeks to seize the initiative to roll out a network ahead of the Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (Z74.SG)-led consortium, the Australian Financial Review reported Monday.
The group will also release details of the prices it will charge other telecommunications groups to use the fiber-to-the-node network it plans to build.
The report said Telstra Chief Executive Solomon Trujillo confirmed the board has signed off on the broadband spend.
