NewSat is claiming the URSYS partnership as a coup, as it will provide satellite broadband services to a number of URSYS’ customers including Santos, Agility, Southern Hydro, GasNet, Parsons Brinkerhoff and Mincore.
URSYS currently manages 550 Telstra satellite sites. The URSYS-NewSat partnership will see part of URSYS’ contracts migrating from Telstra to NewSat.
An Agility and GasNet deal worth $750,000 over two years, will involve URSYS working with NewSat to provide a private network for the two companies to over 220 sites over the next 18 months. This will be a Virtual Network Operator (VNO) system which will be hosted out of Multiemedia’s new Adelaide media port and will allow URSYS to self manage the satellite systems for the two customers.
Petroleum company Santos has also moved part of its satellite broadband services to NewSat. The company has also purchased one of NewSat’s MVS mobile satellite antennas for usage in its exploratory drilling camp in the Cooper Basin. Santos is considering purchasing 15 more of these devices which could potentially result in a deal $900,000 over two years for NewSat, according to the company.
