SUN is SMART, so with GLOBE (50% SingTel) there are just two. PLDT - the landline company owns SMART. If San Miguel want to put pressure on the lazy extortionist duopoly to roll out 4G at decent density, then that will be pleasing.
Wonder if Telstra will find an out in their corporate charter to pay the communist guerillas "revolutionary tax" like SMART does or just have their towers burnt down like GLOBE does.
P.S. This post is brought to you from the Philippines via Smart 4G, so it's not exactly as primitive as the OP may infer, but yeah, it is very ordinary in mid-tier cities and provincial areas, despite the fat profits the 2 telcos make.
