I should also add - You should ask your accountant whether or not it is true (and true in your own circumstances) that:
If you get a dividend you have income which may be deductible against investment losses; and if you buy ExDiv when you sell you will have a capital gain which may be taxed at a marginal rate lower than your income tax and offset against prior capital losses (if you hold for more than 1 year).
Since I am not an accountant I can't answer this question.
