    Volume of coal = area x depth of seam
    Increase the coal seam thickness increases volume of coal.
    Volume of water is proportional to the coal volume as a reasonable assumption.
    More water and few pilots would take longer that the same spacing and spec pumps on thinner coal seams.
    Hence I guess is OGP's logic.
    Apply a bit of pressure logic to the coals on the lower end of the sincline and the scene gets a bit more complex.
