In the US recent polls have shown over 75% of citizens approve of speed cameras and red light cameras at signalised intersections however this is rarely mentioned. Only the brain dead could argue that speeding through intersections or red light running through same was not dangerous. This is the technology Transol was installing, however their problems stemmed purely from mismanagement right from the start. One read of their initial prospectus and anyone who knew a bit about the industry could see they were a dead duck almost before thet started.

The US problems you mention comprise anti photo enforcement legislation that has been passed by the lower house in Ohio. Actual approval of any such legislation requires many more steps including passing the Senate and at this stage it is doubtful if the Senate will even take up the legislation, if it doesn't the bill just dies. Even if it does take it up the end result most likely will be a very watered down version approving photo enforcement under a set of guidelines.

In contrast to the Ohio thing little publicity has been given to the fact that 3 other US states have recently approved photo enforcement including Texas, once the home of the anti lobby.
